This research demonstrates how important social emotional learning ("SEL") can be for the school curriculum, because it establishes a variety of skills such as self-management and social awareness. Incorporating SEL skills is necessary because it has been shown to improve college and career readiness. Having supportive relationships are a key component to improving SEL skills because they stengthen the indvidual's ability to resist negative social pressure and help resolve interpersonal conflict.
